Wordy Wednesday

As I posted in the previous post we were so excited that our friends came to visit. When they came their flights got in really late so Spen was already in bed. I got him up the next morning and was reminding him who was here. I named everyone. His eyes got so big with excitement.
Spencer: "YEAAAHHH!! They are all here to celebrate ME!"

Spencer loves a beverage! I swear he can fill his diaper so full we should be on a diaper commercial showing how much they can successfully hold. Anyway when he was about 19-20 months old I was changing one of those incredibly filled diapers.
ME: OOOHH Spencer! You need to let me know if your diapers gets this full.
Spencer: "Mama, It's a holy cow kinda diaper!"

Spencer at 19 months. It's amazing how fast they change.

Friends

Mid January we got a treat! Steph, Bryon, Wells and Janice came to visit!! We had a great time and I miss being with them so much.

Janice cooked herself to death and we ate like pigs. Spencer said to me the other day, "Mama I need a knife to take over to Miss Janice's house to get cooking." He must have noticed Janice did all the cooking. He's right, she cooked-we ate and it was Y U M M Y!

Jake and Byron got to ski at Copper Mountain and had a great time. Just like men they forgot to take a camera. BUT, they did have a rather interesting photo shot at the top of the mountain with one of the Ski resort photographers. I wish so badly I had those photos to post because I got hysterical looking at them. Either the photographer was bored or thought Jake and Byron were a very handsome couple.

Sadly we didn't get many pics of Jake and Byron...they were here, but obviously not our priority when it came to taking pics! Here are Jake and Byron playing with Spen and Wells outside.

While they were off skiing we took the kids to Denver's Museum of Nature and Science.
The dinosaurs were a hit.

The girls (and Campbell) visited the Coors Brewery one afternoon. It was lots of fun! We got a hoot out of going on a Beer adventure and leaving the boys behind to take care of their boys. Janice, Steph and I also enjoyed a nice dinner free of boys AND men in downtown Denver. We had a blast and I laughed till I cried. I miss those gals!
A day at Coors Brewery.

Sweet Campbell was a trooper and enjoyed getting all the attention.

It was special to see Spencer and Campbell with Wells. They are bound to be the greatest of friends...no pressure boys!
Campbell (7 months), Wells (12 months) and Spencer (2 years, 4 months)

Sweet boys.

Campbell didn't seem to mind the abuse. :)

LIBRARY adventures

Another Friday
Another morning at the library
Mama and Campbell look for fun new books
Spencer plays with all the fun kids things
We check on Spencer - - playing with puzzles
Back to the book shelves we go
Check on Spencer - - nicely playing with another little boy
Back to the book shelves
Check on Spencer - - playing nicely and SMELLING like a garbage can
UUUGGG
Head to the bathroom because I can't convince him to leave
Get him cleaned
Look for his diaper
Look for his diaper
Look for his diaper
NO DIAPER
Stuff him in Campbell's size 3 diaper
Pray he doesn't TT too much in that diaper that's barely covering his hiney
Back to the kids area
Check out books
Easily convince the size 6 diaper wearing boy who's stuffed in size 3 to go home
Slightly giggle as I watch Spencer waddle out the door.

(Sadly enough that happened two weeks in a row!!! I really wish that Pampers wouldn't make all their diapers look alike. I mean really couldn't they color code them or something. I guess the easier solution would be potty training. I promise I'm gearing up to start that soon!)

Wordy Wednesday

Campbell and Spencer were playing together (i was watching from afar to make sure no one was killed) and Campbell started crying when he bonked his head. Spencer patted his back and said' "OOOHH Campbell it's okay I did that to when I was a little boy. You'll be okay."
He CAN be a sweet big brother when he wants to!

Spencer knocked his plate off the table and broccoli, tomatoes, eggs and sausage went everywhere. I knew he didn't mean to do it, but he was playing with his place mat which he knows he's not suppose to do. I was quite annoyed!!!!! Spencer: "I'm so sorry Mama. I love you! You just get over here and let me give you a hug and then you can be happy." He's really using this "I love you - let me give you a hug" thing to his advantage!

And one of my all time favorites.....It was around November (Spencer = 26months) and we were talking a lot about Christmas and why we celebrate. I told him that Santa would come to his house and bring gifts, etc. Spencer: "Santa will come with the 12 disciples?"
I agree with my mom--that would be a great Saturday Night Live skit!!!

Wordy Wednesday

Spen had a donut this weekend on our ride home from the grocery. The thing was about as big as his head and he ate it up! I was busy unloading and forgot to wipe his face. After about 20 minutes this is what I heard him SCREAMING as he was playing.
Spencer: "I didn't want a beard! I didn't want a beard! I've never wanted a beard!"

Lucky for him his "beard" was just sticky icing from the donut and no razors were needed!

Spencer: "Daddy I love when you are home with me. I miss you so much when you are at work."
Of course it just about broke Jake's heart. Jake preceded to explain why he has to go to work. He then started naming other people who go to work everyday.
Jake: "Opa goes to work, Papa goes to work, Oma and Bevie go to work..."
Spencer: "Oh okay, And Mama goes to the store."

As you mommies know going to "the store" with Spencer and Campbell IS work!!!!

WORDY Wednesday

This past Friday Spencer was upset because we forgot his drink when we left the house. I wasn't going to back track to get it.
Me: "Here's the plan. We'll go to the library get your books then go get you a drink at the store and then finish our errands. Does that sound like a good idea?"
Spencer: "NO that does not sound like a good idea. My plan would be to just go to the drink store and head home!"
Yes we stuck with MY plan and he was just fine. Just likes to try and be the boss...sometimes he wins!

Last night I was singing and playing with Campbell. Spencer was riding his bike around the kitchen. (yes the bike was inside--i highly recommend it on cold days!!) Anyway, Spencer preceded to tell me,

Spencer: "Mama I really do not like that song."
ME: "You don't?!" (a little shocked and hurt that he didn't like my made up masterpiece)
Spencer: "Yeah, don't like it, but you go ahead and sing it and be happy"

As ALL the boys were being boys this past weekend I look at Spencer and said..
Me: "Spencer where is our girl?!"
Spencer: (with great enthusiasm and drama he twist around and points at me)
"Mama, YOU are our girl!!!!"
Smart man and he doesn't even know about the point system yet!!
