BLIZZARD and SLEDDING

Thursday MARCH 26th we had Blizzard conditions. It was fun to watch, but really I hate not being able to get out and about. They even canceled schools around here...that rarely happens. We made a run to the library just to get out before it got bad. We have had as much snow as we got the other day, but the wind is what made it scary. I hate that I didn't get any pics of the snow blowing sideways.

Here are a few pics post blizzard.

Jake loves snow. First thing he did when he got home from work...shovel snow. Spencer was right there with him. I think the two of them would sleep in the snow if they could.

First thing Jake does the morning after the blizzard....shovel snow. Well this time he used our neighbors snow blower. Thanks Smiths! It did a great job!

Saturday we went sledding. It was so much fun!!

Campbell even got in on the action.

Spencer below doing his usual...making someone else do all the work!!

Jake and Kat. That poor sled took a beating.

Jake had to be exhausted. He and Spencer went down uddles of times and that meant lots of trips back up the steep hill. Jake had to carry Spen back up the last few times.

I sit here typing as the weather forcast is in the background....more snow storms to come. Wooohooo!

Oma & Opa visit

Yea...more grandparents!! March has been filled with family. Spen and Campbell are gonna be spoiled. Okay maybe I'm the one who's going to be aching for the extra hands to come back!!

We had a great time with Oma and Opa. It was crazy weather with snow and blizzard conditions one day, 50 degrees the next and then snowing the day after that. You never know what kind of weather you are going to get here in Colorado. Opa was able to come a few days early. It was nice to have another adult to be stuck inside with during the blizzard. Spencer loves silly Opa and enjoyed playing with him and telling him what and what not to do. We spent one day watching the Blizzard and worried about Oma getting here the next day. Thankfully Oma got here just fine. Another Mama in the house to help put all the men in there place and help (without direction) in the kitchen!! Thanks Oma and Opa for coming to visit and entertaining and loving our little men. We had a fabulous time.

Oma brought Wheat grass and a few other seeds for Spencer to plant and watch grow. He loved planting and of course LOVES watering them each day. See the cute hat baskets Oma found to put them in. We can't wait to see green!
Opa getting snuggles from the boys before bed. I think Opa is secretly addicted to Bob the Builder after his visit. Aren't you Opa!!!

I thought both snow pics of Campbell with Oma and Opa were sweet. Notice in both pics you can see Spen and Jake in the back ground. The one with Opa they are between Cam and Opa's heads.

Wordy Wednesday

Spencer has been a little under the weather the past few days.

Spencer: "Mama! I think that fever came and got me again."

Yesterday I over heard this when Spen and Campbell were playing nicely and looking at a snake book...

Spencer: "Campbell listen I will teach you. SSSNNAAAKKKE!"

(imagine the word snake said with as many syllables as possible, oh and yes a very southern accent. Living in CO has not kept him from being a true southern boy)

Spencer: "SNAAAKE. SSSSSSSS. Can you say -----YuuuUUUuuCKYY!"

BEVIE Visits

Bevie came to see us this past week. We miss her already. Thanks to the airlines (although we weren't thanking them yesterday for their selfish overbooking -- in turn bumping Bevie off her flight) we got her one extra night!

It's always great to have extra hands around during the day and ummmm having someone cook!!!:) Saturday Mama and I enjoyed shopping and a nice lunch while Jake kept the boys. The last time we did that I was days away from having Campbell!!

As always we had a great time with Bevie!!

Here is Peter Rabbit. Bevie made him out of a wine bottle!!! Each day at nap time she would do a little more to him. Spencer loved watching him become a rabbit. His face was precious when he woke up to see him complete. He often talks to Peter and tells him that he IS in fact being a good boy. He wants to be sure the Easter bunny is going to bring him a prize!

More art with Bevie. Spencer is big into cutting with is new scissors.

Their nightly walk around the neighborhood.

Wordy Wednesday

My Mother is here visiting. HALLELUJAH!!!

SO here is a wordy Wednesday in honor of Mama.
Bevie and Spen(18 months)
This past summer she and Spencer (20 months) were at Walgreens doing some shopping. Spen loves to tell everyone hello and usually calls them "lady" or "man" unless he knows their name. So as they are checking out he looks up at the cashier man (who happens to be wearing lots of necklaces)

Spencer: "Hello Lady uh Man uh Lady uuuuhh uummmm."

During another visit here Spencer was being extremely whinny and had a fit. We all just left the room and let him be. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do with that child.

After he calmed down he found Bevie's phone....

Spencer: "Here Bevie Darling I found your phone."

Bevie took the phone and without paying much attention said "Thank you."
Of course Spencer was hoping for lots of praise and kisses. We were still trying to ignore him from his tantrum.

Spencer: "But I SAID Bevie DARLING!!"

Wordy Wednesday

Today I took Spencer for a haircut. We go to one of those kid places that cost a fortune for a little easy hair cut, but he loves the place so we go. I've had some great ladies cut his hair and really engage with him while Campbell and I just sit and wait on him to be done. Well today the lady was not worth the mula I paid her. I mean really I feel like if I am going to go to a kids hair place shouldn't part of their job be to engage the kids so they want to do what you ask??? If I'm going to have to sit there and reiterate everything she mumbles out of her mouth I should just go to a cheap hair cutting place.

Anyway...as we were getting in the car I was thinking out loud (i should be very careful of this) pretty much saying the above.

Spencer: "I'm sorry Mama. We don't have to go to that lady again. But she WAS nice and DIDN'T make anybody sad OR mad."
He cracks me up. He's right no one left crying so I guess that makes for a successful outing.

The other morning...
Spencer: Mama I bet you are so sad.
Me: No, Spencer I'm not sad.
Spencer: "Yes you are because I haven't kissed you this morning so I better come kiss you."

Campbell chatting with Spen

Campbell enjoys "talking." Most of it it being jargon. HE thinks he's telling us things.
Spencer: Mama! Campbell sure isn't using his words very well!"

Going to the Mountains

Jake got invited to go to Grand Lake to ride snow machines. We tagged along. Spencer couldn't wait to go. Each morning the week before we left he woke up asking if we were going to the mountains yet. He couldn't wait to TOUCH and CLIMB the Mountains.

The ride was beautiful. It took a little bit longer than we had expected because of ski traffic as well as the horned sheep that wouldn't get out of the road. Spen loved that though!
Of course WE were not going to ride the snow machines, but they had a very nice cabin and we played (i kept Campbell from falling down stairs and Spencer from breaking everything and going through the guys overnight bags) . We had hoped to play outside in the snow. BUT, as we pulled up to the cabin a WOLF ran right by us and the cabin. A WOLF!! Okay really it was a coyote, but Spencer and I like to say it was a wolf. Jake kept telling Spencer, "No it's a Coyote." Spencer refused to believe him and thinks he convinced Jake that "it IS a WOLF Daddy!!!" I think my drama King knows that saying we saw a WOLF really does make for a better story. After seeing that wolf-coyote (really to me it didn't matter i didn't want to come in contact with either) I decided the kids and I would NOT be playing outside. So I scooped bowls full of snow and dumped them on the deck for Spencer to play with. It really worked out for the best for me and Campbell who really wouldn't have wanted to play in the frigid cold for very long.

Spencer really wanted to go for a ride on the Snow Machine! Don't worry grandmothers I didn't let Jake take him! He did love pretending.
It was a gorgeous cabin and a beautiful day. Jake was sore from playing and I was exhausted from keeping up with my kids in someone elses house. Huh! My favorite part was the drive. Yes the scenery was beautiful, but it was so nice to be able to have hours of chatting time with Jake without kids interrupting. The duct tape was a great idea!! Just kidding!! Thankfully they snoozed the entire way home.

Wordy Wednesday

Spencer: "Mama your legs are as prickly as silk!"
I guarantee people he surely meant to say SMOOTH as silk!!!

Me: Don't you want to wear your big boy underware and be like Mama and Daddy and go on the big potty like we do.
Spencer : "No. I'm Fine."
Me: So you want to be like a baby like Campbell and wear diapers?
Spencer: "No, Mama I JUST want to be MYSELF!"
