Avoiding the Swine Flu

Can't find your kids cart cover?? Need to avoid germs? Slide on the gloves!!!

Yep, I had my boys wear gloves during our visit to Wal-Mart during the swine flu panic a month ago. Spencer kept asking"...we still keep them on now?" It actually worked well and they kept the gloves on without a fight. And we left without the flu!

"Should we get our gloves for this store?" --Spencer keeps asking when we go shopping. I should make it a habit. Who cares if I get weird looks when my kids are wearing gloves in the summer?

Spencer in deep thought. He was likely thinking how crazy brilliant his mama is!

No we didn't keep up our glove habit. Wish I could say we did.

Oma and Opa visit

We had a great June visit from Oma and Opa. Oma was able to stay almost two weeks. It sure was nice having extra help with the boys, dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc. Which, in turn, meant I got a little extra time to myself. Jake and I even got to go on a couple of dates!! Ahhhh it was so nice to get out with him alone. It was great to leave a restaurant and not have a huge mess under our table left by our two sweet monsters.

We stayed busy. Here are some pics from our time with the Oma and Opa.

Oma brought Spencer several books. I don't think she had any idea what a hit they would be. I think we all read them 110 + times.

Opa and Spencer did a lot of building and Campbell a lot of tearing down!
I think Spencer had Opa in the playroom building a cage within minutes of him walking in the door.

Of course there was a lot of park playing.

Swinging...running...

and bird watching.

On Father's Day we went to Denver's 16th St. Mall.

We had a great time Oma and Opa. Thanks for coming!!! Come again soon.

Wordy Wednesday

Me: Spencer I just wish you would listen.
Spencer: " I wish I would listen too."

Spencer: "Mama, Campbell's my friend. I haven't even been mean to him today."
Me: (under my breath) The day is young child.

They really do love each other and are starting to be really good buddies. If you ask Spen who his best friend is he always says "Campbell". Makes my heart happy! That being said...the pushing- pulling- grabbing - wrestling drives me crazy. And man it sure starts early!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I love ya tomorrow you're only a daaaaay aaaaway.

That's been Spencer's theme song when it comes to going poo poo in the potty. It's so annoying because he's being potty trained TT wise for a while now. But when it comes to poo poo it's always,
"
It's okay, I'll poo poo on the potty TOMORROW." I keep trying to tell him...it's tomorrow!

Well guess what.....TOMORROW was TODAY!!!!!!

I can't even tell you the excitement in this house when he told me he had to go and he actually did!
He even said, "WOW the toilet paper is so cozy!"

Oh I hope it continues. I sure hope "tomorrow" IS tomorrow again!!

Here's the great prize he got for going poo poo on the potty. This has been sitting way up high on top of our kitchen cabinets for months now. I put it out in the open hoping he would go for the bribe. Finally finally finally finally he got to play with the weed eater!! I ran and got that toy before I even wiped that bootie!

Think hard. This one takes a creative mind.......
A BLIND!!! Yes, you know the window covering.
"Mama I'm a blind so I can't eat right now. Blinds don't eat!"

Thanks for playing!!

Wordy Wednesday and windy weather

Spencer: "I sure hope that Tornado doesn't come and wake me up from nap today. He REALLY made you mad!"

Yes, "HE" did. Kinda sad when your child ask each day before nap if the weather is okay and if the tornado is going to wake him up again. We have had 9 straight days of Tornado warnings.
Enough is enough!!! I'm hoping blue skies will be smiling at me from now on.
That tornado that got called "HE" did really make me mad along with nervous-anxious-sick to my stomach. It was the first day of our 9 day stretch of tornadoes so we weren't expecting "HIM". I had just gotten both boys down for their nap and Jake was out mowing the yard. I noticed the weather look like it might get bad and told Jake he should come in because it was lighting. He lingered and we stayed outside chatting about how weird the clouds were. The weird clouds were very fluffy and starting to blow in a circle. These clouds were only about 30 feet high and seemed to be above our neighbors house. All of the sudden a funnel cloud! I of course SCREAMED and ran to get my boys. We grabbed the boys and then ran back down to the basement (so very thankful to have a basement). We looked out once more and saw it higher in the sky with debris swirling around everywhere. If "HE" had decided to touch down instead of jump over our neighborhood there would have be no way we would have been able to make it to the boys and then back down to the basement. I was so nervous I felt like I had developed a stomach ulcer in seconds. A hail storm began soon after our sighting and lasted 30 minutes with golf ball sized hail. It was L O U D! So not only was I M-A-D that I had to see the darn tornado before I heard the warning sirens but I was also very M-A-D that the darn thing had to hit during nap. Spencer, bless his soul, asked to go back to nap when it was all over. Campbell decided he was fine with 15 minutes of sleep....uuugg!!
The irony of it all...that morning I found this in the playroom....
and I said "It looks like a TORNADO came through this room!" So Spencer was asking about tornadoes all morning. Thankfully these two mini tornadoes did the most damage to our house.
The real twister just completely hammered my sweet red pepper plant that had one little pepper on it. I was sad, but very greatful after we saw what happed to other parts of our town!
I probably would have killed the plant on my own given a little more time. This way it's not my fault!!

Wordy Wednesday

Me: Spencer I'm going to put Campbell down for his morning nap. Please be quiet for me.

Spencer: "Okay. Mama I will play quietly. I will not play loudly. But, can I talk regularly you know like normally."

Was he going for some "ly" record??

Instead of playing he happily chose cartoon watching. I thanked him for quietly (not loudly) just normally and regularly sittin and chillin while I got the little man to sleep. It was loveLY!
