Wordy Wednesday

Spencer knows I don't care for Sponge Bob. I don't really know why. His voice is annoying and I really don't think it's a great show for Spencer. He's only really seen commercials for it, but says he really likes it. He likes to ask to watch it because he knows I'm going to make a yucky face and say EWWW NO. He laughs his head off.

So the other day this went on a few times.
He then proceeded to tell me after the third time I turned up my nose saying ewwww.
Spencer: "Don't worry Mama don't worry. He's just a piece of cheese. I mean you COULD eat him."
I then told him I think he's a Sponge. His name is Sponge Bob.
He just smiled looked at me and said, "Cheeeeeezzzzzz!"

I wanna eat you up

I loved a recent book we checked out at the library that talked about how much a mama loved her little boy. So many of the sayings she used are the same things I say to my boys. It reminded of the good ole South!

Child I just wanna eat you up. I wanna hug ya kiss ya till the sugars all gone.

I'm always telling Spencer to run and get a spoon cause I'm gonna
EAT HIM UP!

Thankfully both of these precious babies let me kiss them more than I can possibly count.

Wordy Wednesday

Spencer is so good at complementing and expressing his love for us. I wish each wordy Wednesday I also had a tape of his voice. He is for sure my drama king. The inflection in what he is saying is a lot of times what makes what he says so funny and/or sweet.

Jake fixing something on his bike.
Spencer: "Oh that will be brilliant!"

I told Spen I liked his shirt.
Spencer: "Thank you Mama. That is SO VERY kind of you."

Spencer: "Look there's Daddy's truck. (a little saddened because he realized it wasn't Jake's truck) Well I wish it was Daddy's truck. I just love him soooo bad!"

Spencer: "Mama I love you so much. I REALLY REALLY REALLY do."

We love that crazy sweet smart lovable drama king too!!!!!

And Mr. Campbell has been cracking me up this week when he wakes up lying in his bed....
Campbell: "No no no. SHHHHH. SHHHHH. No No."

I guess he's telling himself what he knows he's gonna hear when I go in his room.
I've got a post coming about crazy Campbell. That kid makes sure I get a constant workout!

Wordy Wednesday

Seems as though lots of our wordy Wednesdays are about listening. That's a word we talk about a lot around here and are hoping everyone learns to use it lots too!!! I'm not getting my hopes up. I do have three males in the house!

As we were leaving the grocery store the other day I was being very stern with Spencer because he hadn't had the best behavior in the store. He looked at me as we were getting in the car and filled me in on a little something...

Spencer: " Mama, sometimes little kids just don't listen very well."

Sorry about your luck if you think that gets you off the hook buddy!! But, you were mighty cute being so serious telling me the facts of being a little kid.

As I was giving Campbell his dinner...

Spencer: "Move over Mama. (elbowing me out of his way) This job is for big brothers to do."

The picture is horribly dark so you may not be about to see Campbell's eyes cutting over to me. He looks like he's gonna ask---Mama are you sure this is a good idea? Actually they both kinda had fun with it. Campbell ended up feeding Spencer some food too.

4th of JULY

Happy 4th of JULY!

We had a GREAT 4th of July! We spent the weekend in Breckenridge, CO. I fell in love with the place! Spencer did too and cried when it was time to go home on Sunday. He kept saying "I just want to stay at the mountain house." We can't wait to go back.

My Patriotic Boys happily sported the tees their Mama made them.

Spencer checking out our condo, or as he calls it, "The Mountain House." Wouldn't you know they had a spiral stair case! Only one small bloody lip episode and of course it was crazy man Campbell.

The view from our condo. It was a gorgeous weekend.

Downtown Breckenridge. Look at those mountains.

Fun times downtown.

They had lots of things for the kids to do since it was a holiday weekend. Spencer had a blast on the swings and bouncy houses. But, when he knew it was his last time to go down the slide he wouldn't slide. That bad kid just sat at the top. We had to pretend we were going to leave him there and then he slid on down.

Campbell shook the gate like crazy the whole time Spen was on the swing. And the whole time Spen was spinning he was screaming, "Look at me Campbell."

Spen sliding.

Pouting because it was time to go eat.

Campbell was worn out and didn't care that he was showing a little belly fat! Two worn out little men. It was chilly on Saturday. Thankfully we had few blankets with us. We ended up having to buy Campbell a sweat shirt. The one thing I forgot!

Fireworks!

Jake and I put the kids to bed and watched the fireworks right from our balcony. Jake made fun of me all bundled up, but it was cold! Great fireworks, but I wish they were able to make them a little quieter. I mean don't they know I have kids sleeping and I'd like them to stay that way!

Guess who else was in Breckenridge? The Budweiser Clydesdale horses. All 8 of them and they are laRge!!

We had a fabulous time! Unfortunately our ride home, which should have taken about an hour and a half took 5 hours! Holiday traffic plus several wrecks. The kids did pretty good considering.
So, what do you do when you've played with all the toys offered, throw them down, had a snack, finished a beverage, played tug of war with brother, had a quick nap, short screaming session, pulled off your socks and shoes....what's left to do.....
uuhh. ummm. Suck your toes I guess!

Ooops Mama. You weren't suppose to see that!

HAPPY 4th!

Not your normal kid conversation

We love our local library. They have a great kid room with lots for kids to do. This past week as I was watching Spencer and Campbell play in the "tree house" I over heard a conversation that I can't stop thinking about. There were three other little boys there. Two brothers (5 and 3 years old) and another little 5 year old boy(who happened to love Campbell and told me he was going to start babysitting).

The conversation went like this...

3 year old brother: My Daddy is a Soldier.
5 year old brother: No our Daddy is a Marine.
3 year old: No Soldier!
5 year old: But he is a Marine!
other 5 year old: My Daddy is a Soldier too!

5 year old brother: Is your Daddy alive?
other 5 year old: Yeah, is yours?
5 year old brother: Yeah mine too.

My heart sank when they asked if their Daddys were alive. They were asking it like it was a normal ole question that everyone gets asked. Sadly, this not so normal kid conversation is unfortunately much too normal.

It seemed some what appropriate that this conversation was this week right before 4th of July. I ache for all of those kids that can't say "yeah" to that question. And there are so many. God Bless those families and all the Soldiers past and present.

May you all have a HAPPY 4th of JULY!!

Wordy Wednesday

As I was pulling my hair back into a pony tail....

Spencer: "OOOOOH Mama you look like a lady."

Me: Well what did I look like before?

Spencer: "My Mama."

Spencer: "Daddy put your napkin in your lap.
We should get you a bib. Yeaaah! It could be a Daddy bib."
